Time and Time Again...

Time is a lot of the things people say that God is. There the always preexisting, and having no end. There's the notion of being all powerful - because nothing can stand against time, can it? Not mountains, not armies

And time is, of course, all-healing. Give anything enough time, and everything is taken care of: all pain encompassed, all hardship erased, all loss subsumed.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Remember, man, that thou art dust; and unto dust thou shalt return.

And if Time is anything akin to God, I supposed that Memory must be the Devil.

Boggle Boggle

I have addiction and it's probably a good idea if I get it out here. I can't stop wanting. For some reason when I go online, I look at all of these amazing things that I want to either, own, make, or do! My latest obsession is Design*Sponge, from which I've found two new stores to crave through: Three Potato Four and Huset. Check them out!

Browsing through Three Potato Four is like going to an antique store without having to wade through the crap to find that one cool item. They've found all of the fantastically random "stuff" and put it one place! I'm loving anything convenient these days! I've included pickies of things that I'm eyeing:

This is a photo of a Gorilla Skull Cave from Huset that I hope to one day convince my daughter to love as much as I do. Is that wrong...?

Foodbeam: Updated

As with all first drafts, the fritters had a slight issue, but still very yummy. Next time must work on cooking through the batter and not just crisping up the outside...

Foodbeam

I figured maybe if I added Foodbeam to my blog that I would be forced to check it everyday and therefore actually start making the delectable goodness she writes about. I've followed her for a while and the Comme si tu m’aimais plus qu’un gâteau au chocolat - Choux croustimoelleux au fromage blanc et à la ciboulette [Like you loved me more than chocolate cake - Fromage blanc and chives crispysoft choux buns]posting from July is one I wanted to touch on as a favorite, but there has yet to be a posting that I haven't salivated over. Most of her recipes are pastries and cakes, but this one called out the Southern girl inside me with fried white cheese and chives!!

I'm totally making these today...

A poem I used to love I happened upon again...

somewhere i have never traveled, gladly beyond

any experience, your eyes have their silence:

in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,

or which i cannot touch because they are too near

your slightest look will easily unclose me

though i have closed myself as fingers,

you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens

(touching skilfully, mysteriously) her first rose

or if your wish be to close me, i and

my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly,

as when the heart of this flower imagines

the snow carefully everywhere descending;

nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals

the power of your intense fragility: whose texture

compels me with the color of its countries,

rendering death and forever with each breathing

(i do not know what it is about you that closes

and opens; only something in me understands

the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)

nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands

e. e. cummings
